HOW IS THE LFS BOOT CAMP PROGRAM STRUCTURED?
At boot camp you will be coached like an athlete. You will get cutting edge training techniques, one-on-one attention, and specific information that will help you reach your intended goals. Each LFS boot camp session lasts for six weeks, classes (with the exception of lunch hour boot camp) run for an hour and a half.
At the start and end of the six week session, the trainers assess each person's health and fitness level including % body fat, weight, body measurements, cardiovascular endurance, and muscular strength. These measurements allow clients and instructors to set realistic training goals together and measure individual progress over the course of the session. Instructors also review injuries and discuss rehabilitation issues with each person participating in the program.
WHAT IF I HAVE NOT WORKED OUT IN AGES?
If you can walk you can do this program. Each person is challenged at a level that is just right for them. No one is ever left behind. LFS boot camp is a progressive type of training designed to ensure that everyone is challenged for the entire duration of the program, which means as you get stronger the workouts will get tougher. Our goal is to get you in shape safely and quickly!
I HAVE TROUBLE STICKING TO A PROGRAM AND BORE EASILY..
At LFS we have a different workout each day to keep things exciting, fresh, and new. Many campers are eager to get to class to see what the instructors have planned each week. Sometimes getting out the door is the biggest obstacle that people face, but going to different locations and getting creative new workouts have many campers coming back for more at the end of the six week program.
WHAT KIND OF THINGS WILL WE BE DOING IN CLASS?
Over the course of a week the workouts will include a combination of cardio training (pace training, speed training, power walking, hiking, hill training, and agility), strength training (upper body, lower body, abdominals, core training, working slow twitch muscle fibers and fast twitch muscle fibers), and each class ends with stretching. For example, we often work the upper body muscles one class, then lower body muscles the next class, (so basically, we make you sore all over) and then we flush all the lactic acid in your muscles out in the 3rd workout of the week with our cardio-ab workouts.
I ALREADY GO TO THE GYM, WHY WOULD i NEED BOOT CAMP?
Two words: training plateau. The body will adapt to even the most strenuous workouts after a short period of time, which explains why some people complain about going to the gym regularly and do not see any results. LFS boot camp workouts are designed to prevent the common training plateau by constantly challenging the body in unexpected ways.
The net result for you: getting more out of your workout hour and a half then ever before, while never getting bored of your surroundings.
WHAT IF I NEED TO TRAVEL?
If you have to miss any classes due to travel, illness, or anything for that matter, you will have the entire duration of the program to make up any missed classes in any of our classes. However, because our instructors get paid whether you show up or not, we can not transfer any classes that you were not able to make up to another six week session. That way I will not have to pay your instructor twice for something you have only paid once for. This solution allows clients to have all the flexibility they need to succeed without losing out on each valuable workout session if possible.
WHAT IF IT IS RAINING?
All classes are held rain or shine! Please come prepared with proper gear for the weather (bring a towel, an extra layer of clothing, rain proof coat, etc.) Classes are only cancelled for extreme weather conditions such as severe wind warnings or icy roads and snow ...lucky for us, Victoria gets about 2 weeks of real winter a year.
WHAT IF i DON'T RUN?
It is okay! Boot camp is not a running group. We focus on all aspects of fitness. Like we said above: "if you can walk you can do this program". In fact power-walking works the butt muscles, shin muscles, and other leg muscles just as much as jogging does (if not more)!
WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Everyone is different! You get what you put in. How hard are you willing to work? LFS will give you all the know-how and motivation you need to achieve significant results. Generally, you should be able to lose as much as 2 lbs a week, but again it depends on how much muscle you came into the program with.
Remember that muscle weighs 3 times more than fat does...so weight loss on a scale does not tell us whole story. At LFS we help our clients look past the number on the scale and focus more on inches lost and % body fat changes rather than lbs lost. In other words, if you lose 6 units of fat and gain 2 units of muscle your weight will read the same but your body will have lost a whole clothing size and burn more calories while you sit at your computer all day at work! If you follow the program, show up to your classes, follow the nutritional guidelines, you will see your body transform before your eyes. We have had clients lose up to 24 inches and 15 lbs in a 6 week boot camp session...but again we will help you decide what is important to you and help you set your goals during your initial consultation.
